The Essential Guide to Vegan CBD Products

The Essential Guide to Vegan CBD Products

Vegan foods and products are trending. Whether due to more exposure to plant-based diets via movies like the Netflix hit “The Gamechangers” or the population simply becoming more health conscious about what they they eat, we are happy to offer a number of vegan CBD products to our customers. Let’s start with the basics of Vegan CBD.

What is Vegan CBD?

The phrase Vegan refers to anything that abstains from the use of animal products. It also can refer to a philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals.

Is all CBD Vegan?

Generally, no, all CBD oil is not Vegan. Many people assume that CBD oil is vegan as it is basically oil and hemp plant extract, but many brands, unfortunately, add flavoring or other additives that are not necessarily Vegan. Strictly plant-based CBD oil is usually unflavored or only flavored with a plant-based flavoring.

What about CBD Edibles? Are they Vegan?

Generally CBD edibles are not Vegan. This is usually due to their containing gelatin (usually CBD gummy type products) or dairy. CBD Drinks may vary, and many are actually in fact vegan.

Are CBD Gummies Vegan?

Most CBD gummies use gelatin, an animal product. It can be expensive for alternatives, and some people complain that the vegan ones are not the same consistency. Be sure to check ingredients of your CBD gummies to see if they contain gelatin or any other animal products.

Design Wellness offers Vegan CBD gummies from Koi that were specially selected by our team due to their awesome taste, consistency over time, and the their Vegan-friendly ingredients.

Are CBD Oil Tinctures Vegan?

Typically CBD Oil Tinctures are made with a base oil and some kind of flavoring. Since the most common base oils are MCT (coconut) Oil, Hemp Seed Oil, and fruit oils, this combined with the CBD is Vegan. However some products may contain extra ingredients like honey or thickeners that are not Vegan. All tinctures we offer are Vegan however, so you have nothing to worry about here.

Are CBD Topicals & Creams Vegan?

Just like non-CBD skincare products, these vary widely as well in terms of what’s Vegan and what’s not. The main ingredient to keep an eye out for here is Beeswax. Here’s a quick rundown on the Vegan topicals and creams we offer:

Are CBD Capsules Vegan?

With capsules the main thing to look for is what the outer shell of the capsule is made from. In many cases animal derived gelatin is used, but some products like the Elite Capsules from Mary’s Nutritionals use Powdered Cellulose and Hypromellose Capsules that are 100% plant based.

Design Wellness Tips:

As with all wellness products and diet changes, it’s always a good idea consult with your physician and to start out slow to measure their success factors for everyone’s individual Endocannabinoid System, the part of the Central Nervous System that interacts with cannabinoids like CBD, CBN, CBL, CBG, THC, and others.

We always recommend taking time to discover what dosage works best for you by keeping a journal and tracking when and how much hemp oil you’re using. Track your health and wellness plan to gage when you need to make an adjustment to ensure that you get your desired results when you need it and it integrates seamlessly with your wellness goals.
