CBD Dog treats can be a wonderful addition to your canine’s wellness program. One of the most common questions from our friends at Super Pups is, “how fast will these CBD dog treats work?” Well, the answer is complicated, but let’s look over how CBD works in dogs, and see if we can find a general guide to go by. Dogs, just like humans, have an endocannabinoid system. Every dog’s endocannabinoid system is different, as not only their own body but outside influences like weight, diet, and exercise may affect the composition of the endocannabinoid system. With this being said, you can see how adding CBD (cannabidiol), a phytocannabinoid (cannabinoid made outside the body) can interact with the endocannabinoids (cannabinoids made naturally inside the body) and depending on the ratios, can affect how long it takes for the various effects of CBD to work. Generally, from our personal experience, we have seen most efficacy in ~1-6 hrs from the time you feed the treat or CBD oil to your dog.
How Long Do CBD Dog Treats & Oil Last For?
How long they last for is also dependent on the conditions above, such as dog weight (larger dogs might need slightly more treats or oil) diet, exercise, and personal traits of their individual body chemistry. Generally, we recommend to start out small with one or two treats per day, with a max of four per day (too much of anything can be tough for tummies!) For CBD oil for dogs, you’ll want to start with one drop and work up to two to three drops per day for larger or dogs in more need of assistance.
