If you’re taking CBD regularly, then perhaps you have a few sorted bottles or jars of CBD oil tincture that you want to keep fresh for as long as possible. Now, you may be thinking storage is easy, just keep it out of reach of kids and somewhere convenient that you will remember so you can keep on your wellness schedule. PLOT TWIST… it turns out it’s a bit more complicated than that, because CBD can degrade or lose its potentially beneficial properties after being subjected to a poor storage strategy.
How to properly store your CBD
Luckily storing CBD the right way, to retain maximum quality, is as easy as it is important. Here’s what you need to know about what degrades and reduces the quality of hemp extracts, as well as what you can do to keep your CBD looking good, even if stored for extended periods of time.
- LIGHT – CBD degrades when it comes in contact with both natural outdoor and artificial indoor light, so keep it in the dark when not in use and make sure it’s in a container that blocks light for extra protection.
- HEAT – Temperatures above 77˚ F will cause a CBD tincture to begin to degrade.
- COLD – CBD also degrades at temperatures below 39˚ F so a cool/dark cabinet is the best spot for CBD products.
- SAFTEY – Make sure all CBD is not within reach of children or pets.
